Activities

There are a number of ways to interact with CSAG in California.

  • Attend our annual teaching convention.  Usually scheduled for a weekend in February each year, the conventions can be two or three days of classes accompanied by our annual business meeting. Conventions are held in the greater Sacramento region each year. Details will be posted to our convention page once available (closer to the end of the year). Scholarships may be available for first time attendees.

  • Come to one of our Make & Take events. Offered in various areas in the state, come and make a simple straw piece to discover for yourself the joy of creating something with straw.

  • Attend a wheat gathering in your area. These gatherings are held throughout the state.

  • Be a participant in the California State Fair. Enter your straw artwork in the competition.

District Gatherings

Each CSAG District Director schedules gatherings throughout the year where members come together to weave and socialize. There could be a designated project to be made on that day or it could be an open straw weave-in. Anyone interested in learning about wheat weaving and straw arts may attend a gathering one time. You will be asked to contribute a nominal fee for project supplies. If you wish to attend subsequent gatherings, you must become a member of CSAG to be eligible to do so.

Due to the pandemic, CSAG has suspended in-person gatherings. We are currently meeting via Zoom on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. PT.
